How it works

  1. Describe the job or the materials. What you want built, renovated or delivered, and where.
  2. We pass it on. Your request goes to a contractor or supplier who covers your province or town.
  3. Compare and decide. They contact you directly with a quote. It's free and you don't have to accept.

Most building projects in South Africa start with the same question: who can do this, and what will it cost? Prices for a build depend on the plans, the site, the soil, the finishes and how busy builders are in your area, and material prices move from month to month. A quote for your exact job is the only reliable number. BuildingContractors.co.za makes the first step easy: describe what you need once and we send it to people who work where you are.

Building supplies and materials

Homeowners, builders and developers use the same form to price bricks, cement, sand and stone, ready-mix concrete, roofing, paving and steel, delivered to site.

Before you accept a building quote

Check that the quote lists the scope item by item: foundations, walls, roof, finishes, plumbing and electrical work, and who supplies which materials. Ask about the payment schedule (paying in stages as work is completed, never most of it upfront), how long the job will take, and the guarantee on workmanship. For a new home, the builder must be registered with the NHBRC and enrol the home before building starts. Work that needs plans must have municipal approval before construction, and electrical and plumbing work needs the correct certificates.

For homeowners, developers and businesses

Requests come from homeowners adding a bedroom or redoing a bathroom, families building on a new stand, landlords building backyard rooms, body corporates fixing roofs, businesses fitting out shops and warehouses, and builders ordering materials for their next site. Every request gets the same free service.
